gon Wine Press features
local blues musician/wine
maker Tess Barr on the
cover. Tess and her hus-
band, Patrick, run Hood
Crest Winery on Orchard
Road in Hood River.
The winery has recently
been awarded a silver
medal for its 2012 Merlot in
the San Francisco Chroni-
cle Wine Competition, and
a bronze for its 2012 Caber-
net Sauvignon. The winery
offers Chardonnay, Pinot
Noir, Riesling, and a host of
others.
Hood Crest celebrated
the Memorial Day Weekend
with music from the Tess
Barr Blues Band and pho-
tos from that day were used
in the magazine.

Gregg Rolie performs at the
Columbia Gorge Hotel July 19
The Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa is proud to present
the return of Gregg Rolie on Sunday, July 19, to kick off
its outdoor summer concerts overlooking the Columbia
River. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and the show will start at
6 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Gregg Rolie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame as a founding member of Santana. Throughout
his 30 year music career, he has played with The Storm,
Abraxas Pool, and Journey, for whom he was the original
keyboard player. Gregg and his band played at the Co-
lumbia Gorge Hotel in 2012 to a sold out crowd so get
your tickets early.

Lavender DAZE July 18-19
The 11th Oregon Lavender DAZE Festival returns July
18 and 19. Make plans for the annual event that features
free admission, live music, food and wine vendors, craft
classes, U-pick lavender, and kid's activities. Tour groups

White Salmon Art & Wine Fusion
On Saturday, July 25, the 2015 White Salmon Art &
Wine Fusion street fair returns. The music stage will be
set up outside Everybody's Brewing and will feature acts
such as Dirty Revival, Ezza Rose, Sidestreet Reny,
Matthew Zeltzer Band and more. Expect soul, roots-rock,
Hip-Hop, Urban Blues, Quirk-Folk — there's a little some-
thing for everyone.
Blues master MacLeod
returns to The Pines July 24
A “master of original acoustic blues,” Doug MacLeod
won the Blues Music Foundation Best Acoustic Player &
Album for 2014. Sing Out Magazine says “MacLeod is
preserving a lost art ... a must for any serious fan of the
blues and any soul who needs the healing of the blues.”

Weird World of Science camp
Columbia Gorge Discovery center hosts the Weird
World of Science day camp for kids, Tuesday, Aug. 4
through Friday, Aug. 7 for children 1st to 6th grade. Kids
will have fun while exploring the science behind the na-
ture all around us. Session 1 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon is for
kids in grades 1-3. Session 2 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. is

Gorge Bluegrass Festival, and the celebration boasts
some of the biggest stars in bluegrass- Sierra Hull, Lau-

They join The Caleb Klauder Country Band, the Down-
town Mountain Boys, North Country Bluegrass and Jim
Faddis with Farmstrong beginning July 23-26 when the

Fort Dalles Rodeo on tap
The Fort Dalles Pro Rodeo is July 16-18 featuring per-
formances by Amanda “Mandy” Payne of the “One Arm
Bandit and Company” — a highly rated western show
featuring riding on a moving horse trailer and herding
longhorn steers onto the roofs of vehicles. Shows are 7:30
p.m. at the rodeo arena in The Dalles.
