On-street parking at the waterfront is free, with some “drop-off only” zones and 90- minute limit in some areas. The Port is considering a metering or parking pass system in the future. This year, they’ll be studying how well the current structure works for accommodating the flood of summer traffic. “The Port will be assess- ing parking capacity, vehicu- lar circulation and typical length of time cars are parked in designated areas this summer to determine fu- ture planning needs,” said Whitmore. The waterfront will have limited access in several areas over the weekend: The Spit: The Port closed Hood River News, Saturday, July 4, 2015 the Spit area at noon on Fri- day, July 3 and will open it again Sunday, July 5. Event Site Access to Sand- bar: Access to the Sandbar from the Event Site will be closed at 7 p.m. on July 4 to all spectators and recreation- alists due to fireworks. Kite- board launching and landing from the Event Site grass is prohibited. Marina Beach and Marina Park: The sandy area of the Marina Beach will be closed at 7 p.m. on July 4. Once the Marina Park parking areas are full, “Closed” signs will be posted at the entrance and additional vehicles will not be allowed into Marina Park. Fireworks will be prohibit- ed on all Port properties, in- cluding the Marina and Wa- terfront areas. Genevieve Scholl, Port communications and special projects manag- er, said dark conditions and heavy pedestrian traffic after the fireworks show make it important to use caution while driving in the area. After the Bible study, comes snack and recreation (games) time, journey with a missionary (learn about missions), or a special project during craft time.
