Jane Nichol, left, of Hood River B & B, passes a special red chair to Mary Pel- legrini of Old Parkdale Inn. The red chair visited Hood River County in May and June as part of a national B & B awareness program that focuses on a traveling red porch chair to highlight the comfort, hospitality and friendli- ness of bed and breakfasts. The chair previously visited Sakura Ridge Farm and Lodge and Oak Street Hotel. Since the start of the red chair’s travels in New England in 2012, B & Bs and inns have taken inspiring photos of the red chair from beaches to bandstands. Par- ticipating B & Bs and inns listed on Be- dandBreakfast.com host the red chair, chronicling its stay with blog posts and photos on RedChairTravels.com. Nichol said that in its week at her Oak Street establishment, the chair was the hon- ored seat at the head of the table. Pel- ligrini has transported the chair to Madras, where she met a B & B owner from Bend for the red chair’s next stage of the journey. Art on Oak gallery opens Photo by Sam my Wi n d s .
