B6 Hood River News, Wednesday, June 10, 2015 A F U L L F R I D A Y LISAANN KAWACHI made the rounds at First Friday on June 5, all told a busy, busy time in downtown Hood River. Eyes are on the sky over Oak Street as Lucas Gilbert, sophomore at HRVHS, demonstrates the “Fun-a-nator” rocket launcher for Rex Cordell, 9, from Parkdale, during the second annual HRVHS Engineering Fair. Emmett Becker holds a gimbal-stabilized camera designed and built by Becker and Quincy Zuck, both sophomores. At top, the Dylan Vaivoda, Lelu Branch, Lilly Wyers, and Skyler Vaivoda of Gorge Gymastics raise funds selling baked goods. Below, Jean Harmon and Paul Randall check out glassware at the first Emporium pop-up gallery at Butler Bank Building, 301 Oak St., while youngsters got into the dunk tank fun at The Moth Lounge, hosted by Gorge Roller Girls. Helda Contempt goes into the drink, at the hands of Kelsi Fadness and Josy Stevens, both 9. Lucas Elliot, 10, and his sister, Alyra, 5, take matters into their own hands with the dunk tank, usually activated by water-soaked sponges.
