‘Incredible Years’ returns June 23
Come enjoy summer fun
with the Incredible Years pro-
gram for parents and other
adults and their children 2-8
years starting Tuesday, June
23, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
at Indian Creek Apartments,
1615 9th Court St., northeast of
Walgreens. The children will
have fun activities that devel-
op self-esteem and self-con-
trol, emotional literacy (using
the pocket full of feelings kit),
anger management, and self-
care. The local library, Kid-
sense, Early Intervention, and
other organizations will bring
fun and educational activities
for children. Each week, par-
ticipants will receive an edu-
cational toy to take home to
play with their child. The pro-
gram last 6 weeks and meets
Tuesdays and Thursdays,
with a total cost of $25 per
family. A free lunch will be
served to all involved.
The parents, grandparents,
and other adults will learn
how to teach children skills
that will help them succeed in
school and practice those
skills during the summer,
when children often experi-
ence a “summer lag.” In the
Incredible Years program,
adults will learn the impor-
tance of child directed play, ef-
fective limit setting, ignoring
some behaviors, and getting
results by using proximal,
positive opposite, and specific

can use this series as part of
their training hours with the
State Child Care Division.
The Incredible Years Pro-
gram is very well liked by par-
ents, who say, “ I feel my kids
and I understand each other
better and their behavior is
much more positive. We talk
more about their feelings and
my children are more able to
focus and pay attention to
what I tell them. I do much
better on follow through on
limit setting. We have more
fun together and they are
learning so much!”
Call Nancy Paul at 541-436-
0319 at the Next Door to sign

limited, so sign up soon. Infor-
mation about the summer pro-
gram is also on www.nextdoor-
inc.org and one can email nan-
cyp@nextddorinc.org to sign
up. Paul says that she is ex-
cited to offer the Incredible
Years program this summer
which both the parents and
children will learn a lot that
will help them with school in
the fall.
