www.hoodrivernews.com Hood River News, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 Mid- Columbia Ladies Chorus featured June 7 ENTERTAINMENT U pdate Mid-Columbia Communi- ty Choir Ladies Chorus will present a benefit concert on June 7, at 3 p.m. in the Grace Baptist Church sanctuary at 1280 W Jewett, White Salmon, Wash. Admission is free but a free will offering will be re- ceived for WA Gorge Action Programs Food Bank. This local agency serves those in need to alleviate hunger by distributing food regularly and on an emergency basis. Mid-Columbia Communi- ty Choir Ladies Chorus is a gorge based ladies group formed in 2013 and made up of 18 ladies who are mem- bers of the larger choir. Each month the ladies visit one of several local care facilities singing for shut-ins and bring their message of hope through music. They have performed bedside concerts for individuals and families in hospice care. The Ladies Chorus will perform classical to contem- porary pieces including “Amazing Grace,” a well- known hymn and “Merrick,” an 18th century piece both written by John Newton. The chorus also will perform Dr. Mack Wilberg’s classical arrangement of “My Shep- herd Will Supply My Need” and the opening them of the popular animated musical Frozen entitled, “Eatnemen Vuelie.” The program will feature two solos: Stephenie Gross singing, “You Are Good,” and Anita Decker singing, “Your Grace Still Amazes Me.” Ken DeRouchie Band w/ Tracy Klas at River City May 30 The Ken DeRouchie band (pictured above) features Portland heavyweights like the incomparable LaRhonda Steele (known as the queen of Portland Soul), vocal pow- erhouse Arietta Ward, Muddy Award winning guitarist Jeff Knudson, Rob Busey, Alex “Popcorn” Milstead, Chris Lay, David Chachere and Ken DeRouchie. This soul/R&B outfit were nominated for the 2014 Muddy Award. Local singer Tracy Klas opens the show. Saturday, May 30, 9 p.m., 21 and over only.
