www.hoodrivernews.com Hood River News, Saturday, May 16, 2015 A5 THIS WEEK AT HRVHS MEYER PERFORMING ARTS ‘Little Mermaid’ entertains; new musical this summer By PAYTON RIGERT News intern Recently, the Meyer Pre- forming Arts Studio put on a production of Dis- ney’s “The Little Mer- maid Junior,” directed and choreographed by son-and-mother team Teddy Meyer and Re- bekah Meyer. The production went on for four days and rotated casts each time. The age groups ranged from sec- ond grade to eighth grade and the production began on Tuesday with the sec- ond and third grade cast. The actors did a fantas- tic job with the musical numbers and the choreo- graphed dance moves. There were individual numbers, such as Ariel’s song, “Par t of Your World,” and large group performances to the clas- sic song “Under the Sea.” T he costumes were beautiful and enhanced the performance. Laugh- ter filled the auditorium throughout the perfor- mance, but even the tod- dlers in the audience were held captive when each of the Arial’s got up to sing their soulful songs. ■ If you would like to get your child involved in a summer workshop, Meyer Preforming Arts Studio will be preforming their first production of “Mulan the Musical.” There will be new songs plus the classics. The workshops start June 29 and end July 10, with a show in Jackson Park.
