MDA raises over $13,000
during Lock Up event

Community members
helped raise critical funds
for the Muscular Dystrophy
Association during its Hood
River Lock Up 2015, which
took place on Thursday at
Pietro’s Pizza.

ordinators, said the event
raised
approximately
$13,200, with over 40 volun-
teers “jailed.”
Money raised will fund
treatments and cures, pro-
vide life-enhancing pro-
grams, and send kids with
muscle disease to MDA
summer camp, with 77 cents
per dollar going directly to
client services.
“The event was amaz-
ing,” said Ellerbe. “We had
amazing support from local
individuals.”

volunteer coordinator. The
volunteers then had to raise
bail — donations for MDA
— by calling family and
friends. Pietro’s donated all
the pizza and drinks en-
joyed by volunteers.
“We want to thank the
Hood River community for
their support in helping
send our local kids to MDA
summer camp in Salem this
coming July,” said David. “A
big thanks to them from
us.”
