Schools across Oregon are gearing up for the spring sea- son of OBOB, a kind of liter- ary “Jeopardy” that pits two teams of four against each other in three divisions, grades 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 in an- swering questions covering a list of a dozen books from multiple genres. Students are quizzed on content and plot points in each of the stories. Many schools in the Mid- Columbia are competing this year, which raises the need for adult volunteers to assist in officiating tournaments, according to coordinator Jim Tindall, a librarian with North Wasco Schools. Sherman, Hood River, and Wasco counties make up Re- gion 4 East and two training opportunities have been scheduled to aid adults learn the rules and procedures within OBOB, events to which the community is cor- dially invited.
