Keuter, Nathan Whealdon and Louis Itorden lu The Dallea were entered during the week by a burglar whose spoils totaled about $19 In cash and two gold watches. The police were notified shortly after 5 o'clock by Dr. Reuter, who was awakened when the thief left bis residence through a window. When Mr. Itorden arose In the morning he found tils clothes strewn about the room but nothing was missing although bis watch aud sev eral dollars lay on the dresser. The thief, however, made away with M rs. Itorden's purse containing about H which bung In a closet. At the Whealdon borne the thief gained an entrance through a win dow and took a watch and $!." from Mr. Whealdou's clothes. He did not venture up stairs and nothing else on the lower floor was molested. Again at the Iteuter residence the robber entered through a window and walked deliberately Into Dr. Keuter's sleeping room, picked up a watch and charm, Valued at $1."(), and Immediately left the house. When going out of the window the burglar made a little noise which awakened Dr. Keuter, but when the latter looked out be could see noth Ing of the Intruder. That the thief Is some local person Is the Iwllef of the local police and they are working on that clue. His operations were very amateurish which is evidenced by the fact that be passed up 920 which were In Dr. Keuter's clothes. Also at the Itorden home the robber passed up a consid erable sum of money. Baby Show at Salem. The State Fair board has voted f.100 to be Ufed as prizes for the Eugenics Exposition planned for Wednesday, Septernlier 4. This Is a feature of the State Fair this year for the first time and It Is expected It will attract a great deal of atten tion. It Is to lie really a scientific baby show, children up to three years old being eligible for prizes. A $."0 sliver cup will be offered for the best boy and the best girl In the show and six cups for the best boy and girl In three divisions, the ages running from six months to three years. Medical experts will Judge the children entered from the standpoint of physical perfection, much ns live stock Is Judged. O. M. riummerhas been made superintendent of the Eugenics show and Is hopeful of hav ing 200 children entered at Salem. He hopes various granges, commer cial bodies and districts will hold local shows In each county, sending the best boy and girl from the coun ty to the state coniiM-tltlon.
