Public Library
The Library Committee lire meet
ing with encouraging success with
their petitions. Almost without ex-
ceptl'in, these who really understand
the project are giving It their sup
port, (ireat credit is due our local
papers for giving so much space In
explaining t he character of this splen
did movement.
Another Important factor In arous
ing this support Is the work of the
school teachers throughout the val
ley. As instructors of children thev
feel the need of reference books, and
realize t he value to the schools. Their
enthusiasm has communicated Itself
to many, and Is one of the strongest
arguments for the establishment of a
library. I't's tell others.

For the first time American
peaches were offered for sale on
London markets this year. They
came from Wenatchee and
brought record prices, according
to a report from Consul General
J. L. Griffiths. The consignment
of 2000 cases was shipped from
Wenatchee to London, being in
transit just 13 days. This is
also a record in the matter of
fruit forwarding. Heretofore, a
few Canadian peaches have
reached London. Considering
that fine peaches sold for 48 cents
a piece this year in Covent Gar
den, and that from Washington
state, should be good news to
the growers.
