weather bureau at Seattle where he
Is marine observer. He will retain
his position there aud his sons will
manage his ranch. Notwithstand
ing the fact that he Is a Seattle en
thusiast he believes Hood Hlver Is
the Ideal place to live and grow ap
ples, after an Investigation of the
various districts.

Chase met Jack Robinson, whom he
formerly knew In California, and also
Mauager Sproat of the Apple Grow
ers' I'ulon. He was much Interested
In what he saw and heard and may
