A visit to our neighboring city
across the river shows enterprise and
progress and Indicates that the hus
tling residents of White Salmon have
faith In their country. While seekers
forfruitland are not as numerous
there this season as they were last
year, city property has taken a
boom and lots In four subdivisions
have beeu disposed of lu a short time
at Increasing values. A movement
Is on foot to pave the three main
business streets, and a $10,0(10 brick
high school will soon be erected to
provide for the Increasing school
population.
More city lots are said to have
been sold at White Salmon In the
past six months than have been dis
posed of before In three years. I'.oth

other business houses report in
creased trade.
A new laundry operated by elec
tricity and owning Its building has

has a modern playhouse. Tents of

lished between White Salmon and

The funeral of Geo. Sellinger who
died so suddenly at Cascade Locks
Thursday, was held at the I. O. O. F.
cemetery Saturday morning. A
Catholic priest accompanied the fam
ily aud conducted the services. Mr.
Sellinger bad made Mosler his home
for about thirty years aud had only
moved away temporarily, and had
planned In a few days to move to his
beautiful home recently purchased
from D. M. Duvall and spend the re
mainder of his life In comfort. The
family have a host of friends who
sympathized with them In their hour
of sorrow.
