Or: MANY INITIATIVE PETITIONS FILED Two Initiative petitions were pre sented to the secretary of the state for filing last week. One to change the boundary line lietween Clacka mas county and Multnomah, which will annex to Multnomah nearly all that portion of Clackamas between the present boundary near Sellwood and the Clackamas Hher. The other petition asks for the creation of Williams county from Douglas and Lane. This county Is planned to Include some of the same territory included lu the petition for the pro posed county of Nesmith, which has already lieen presented to the secre tary of the state. A petition for the creation of Otis county from portions of Grant, Mal liour and Harney was also recently tiled aud It Is expected a peittlon for the creation or Orchard county from northeastern I'matilla county will be filed soou. It is understood that a plan Is on foot to square Wash ington county by adding the east portion to Multnomah. Six initiative petitions have been presented to the secretary of the state for filing. They are the pro posed equal suffrage amendment, the normal school at Monmouth, Otis county. Nesmith county, Williams county aud the proposal for chang ing the boundary between Multno mah and Clackamas counties. A referendum petition lias been present ed on the bill passed by the last legislature. Increasing the salary of Circuit Judge William Smith, lu the judicial district In which linker county Is located. These measures will lie filed a soou as the secretary of state's forces can check over the names. It Is ex ected that the total number of Initiative measures for the November election will be close to 30.
