Forty-two years ago the United States government gave a perpetual charter
to the NATIONAL LIFE INSURANCE COMPANY (the only one) with a capital
stock of one million dollars. Since then the NATIONAL has paid in cash to its
living policyholders, thousands upon thousands of dollars of matured claims, en
abling many a man and woman to sit by the fire in comfort, when they reached
an age in life when they should no longer have to hustle for their daily bread.
Uncle Sam has also noted the thousands of widows and orphans whom this
company has kept from absolute want.

and dollars ($5,000) in full payment of my husband's
policy in your company. I thank you for your extreme
promptness in the payment of this claim, inasmuch as
Mr. DeBussey only had his policy a few weeks and es
pecially from the fact that the premium had not yet
been paid. I herewith enclose you my check for $224. 80
in full payment of the first year's premium.
