Dear sir What a pity It In that our valley la earned with such ao outrageous and Irreligious popula tion. W here have tliette wretches been born and educated who violate all ChrUtlun gentlmeut by plouKhlnK. dlMcliitr. nprnylt)ir and blaotlnif on the Lord's day? No Helf renpectlng man would secularize the day ap pointed for divine worship If he would UHt atop and reflect (or one moment upon the sanctity oi thin Chrtxtlun Institution. For more than eighteen centuries ChrlHtiana have met together In nil Christian lands for the worship of liod on this day, and yet the covetous and greedy ranchers oi this valley aisuainruuy and Insolently work their teams and men, to the painful annoyance and disturbance of worshippers by blast lutr durlnir the services of the sanctu ary. It Is to be hoped that thene men who are thus defying the Al mighty and proudly sneering at his church by contemptuously teaming and working in their orchards, and causlnir their employees to work also, thus depriving them and their families of their natural rights as citizens of this country to worship their Creator on the day set apart for his worship, that they will not at last be blunted In the lust Judg ment. When men neglect the house of (iod they deteriorate, lecome degenerates ami altogether lost to virtue, honor and reHjiectablllty. There are more divorces, murders, suicides and thetfs nowudays than there ever were In the world's history. It is all because men will not obey (iod nor the laws of their own country. These men are nothing less thau anarchists; they defy the Lord, like Pharaoh, and say In their hearts "Who Is Jehovah that I should oLey his voice," and they despise government, yet they are supposed to le respectable people! Our country Is In the throes of a mighty nightmare of "respectability" displayed by the robler trusts and grafters uot to mention the delect able short weight sugar kings from Maine to California, All this would be Impossible If men were loyal to the church and obedient unto the re quirements of our holy religion. iSurelv Hood Klver ranchers will cense their Insulting practices and at least respect the feelings of their Christian neighbors.
