Notice of Availability of an Environmental Assessment
Regarding Improvements to Waterfront and Landside Facilities
to Homeport Multiple New Fast Response Cutters in Astoria,
Oregon
AGENCY: U.S. Coast Guard
ACTION: Notice of Availability
SUMMARY: The U.S. Coast Guard proposes to homeport multiple
Fast Response Cutters (FRCs) at East Tongue Point in Astoria, Ore-
gon. The FRCs will replace Island-Class 110-foot Patrol Boats that
are nearing the end of their service life. Improvements to facilities lo-
cated on the eastern shoreline of Tongue Point are necessary to sup-
port homeporting the vessels at the proposed location. Construction
activities will include dredging, pier improvements, and constructing
support infrastructure.
Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act, the Coast
Guard prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to assess
the potential environmental impacts resulting from the
proposed project and construction activities. Interested parties are
invited to comment on the proposed action and provide information
on the EA and any relevant environmental concerns.
DATE: Comments and related material must be received by 5 PM on
July 30th, 2022.
