ria, exchanged wedding vows with
Stuart Emmons, also of Astoria,
on March 5 on the beach at Gear-
hart. The groom’s parents are the
late William Stuart and Clare Aus-
tin Emmons.
The bride was given in marriage
by her son, Joseph J. Lennox. U.S.
Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. John Jacob
Briggs performed the ceremony.
Music was provided by the ocean.

Monsantofi ls, of San Francisco.
Best man was Will Emmons, of
Washington, D.C.
The bride attended Scappoose
High School, Eastern Washington
University and King’s College in
London. She is a region specialist in
preventive dentistry.

State Fish and Wildlife
announces art contest
Marine safety instructor
training off ered
Artists are invited to compete
in one or all three of the Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife’s
2023 stamp art competitions.
The Habitat Conservation Stamp
entries must feature an eligible spe-
cies from the Oregon Conservation
Strategy; the Waterfowl Stamp Con-
test must feature the greater scaup;
and the Upland Game Bird Stamp
Contest must feature the mountain
quail. All three category entries must
be depicted in their natural habitat.
The winning artist in each contest
receives a $2,000 award and the art-
work is used to produce collector’s
stamps and other promotional items,
with sale proceeds benefi ting Ore-
gon’s fi sh, wildlife and their habitats.
Entries will be accepted between
Aug. 26 and up to 5 p.m. on Sept.
30 at the Oregon Department of
Fish and Wildlife headquarters,
4034 Fairview Industrial Drive SE,
Salem, OR., 97302. Entries can be
mailed or hand delivered.

The Alaska Marine Safety Edu-
cation Association is holding a
marine safety instructor training
from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 23 to
May 27 at the Clatsop Community
College Marine and Environmen-
tal Research and Training Station,
6550 Liberty Lane.
The course includes: methods
of marine safety instruction; emer-
gency procedures; risk assess-
ment; how to conduct eff ective
drills; cold-water survival skills;
man overboard recovery; fi refi ght-
ing; life rafts; abandon ship pro-
cedures; helicopter rescue; fl ares,
maydays and other emergency sig-
nals; personal fl otation devices;
fl ooding control; conducting
safety orientations; cross-cultural
communication; and in-the-water
skills.
The cost is $995 for tuition and
books; scholarships are available
for qualifi ed commercial fi sher-
