announces awards
WARRENTON — The Warren-
ton High School Drama Depart-
ment is set to perform “Seussical
the Musical” at 7 p.m. on Friday
and Saturday at the high school.
Admission is $8. Masks are
required.
The musical is put on by the
drama and stagecraft classes, led
by Jim Hackwith, and follows a
mix of characters from Dr. Seuss’
well-loved children’s books, like
“The Cat in the Hat” and Horton
the elephant.
The Astoria Chapter Daugh-
ters of the American Revolution has
announced that Warrenton High
School senior Avyree Miethe was
selected as the recipient of the school’s
Good Citizen Award. She also was
selected as the chapter’s winner of the
essay award, and will receive a mone-
tary award, certifi cate and pin.
Evelyn Hardin, a fi fth grade stu-
dent at Pacifi c Ridge Elementary in
Seaside, will receive a certifi cate and
award for her poster in the Junior
American Citizens Contest for the
100th anniversary of the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier. Her poster also
won on the Oregon state DAR Society
level, and has been sent to be judged
on the Northwest division level.
