Admission is $8. Masks are required. The musical is put on by the drama and stagecraft classes, led by Jim Hackwith, and follows a mix of characters from Dr. Seuss’ well-loved children’s books, like “The Cat in the Hat” and Horton the elephant. The Astoria Chapter Daugh- ters of the American Revolution has announced that Warrenton High School senior Avyree Miethe was selected as the recipient of the school’s Good Citizen Award. She also was selected as the chapter’s winner of the essay award, and will receive a mone- tary award, certifi cate and pin. Evelyn Hardin, a fi fth grade stu- dent at Pacifi c Ridge Elementary in Seaside, will receive a certifi cate and award for her poster in the Junior American Citizens Contest for the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Her poster also won on the Oregon state DAR Society level, and has been sent to be judged on the Northwest division level. Russell elected FFA district president Astoria FFA Chapter mem- ber Jena Russell was elected as the Northwest District FFA president on Jan. 29. She will represent nine 1A to 6A schools in the northwestern Jena Russell region of Oregon at the state level. This is the highest elected offi ce an Astoria High School FFA member has been elected to since 2010.
