Clean up the beach in costume
at Oswald West State Park
An Oregon State Parks cleanup and cos-
tume event will be held Saturday in Oswald
West State Park.
The event is led by Friends of Cape Falcon
Marine Reserve, Surfrider Foundation’s Port-
land chapter and Trailkeepers of Oregon.
Two activities will take place between
noon and 2 p.m. including trail maintenance
(12 people maximum) and a beach cleanup
(50 people maximum).
Guests are asked to bring a bucket or bag,
gloves, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
and a mask. Participants should arrive 15 to
20 minutes early to check in at the parking lot.
The hosts encourage participants to show
their holiday spirit and dress up.
There will be a costume contest with prizes
from Surfrider’s Portland chapter.
Fort Clatsop hosts event about creatures of the night Saturday
ASTORIA — Lewis and Clark National
Historical Park will hold a “Bats, Spi-
ders, Owls – Oh My!” event Saturday from
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rangers will be stationed at the Fort
Clatsop replica presenting information and
telling stories about three creatures of the
night: bats, spiders and owls.

The hosts remind guests to dress for the
weather. Night creature craft bags will be
available to pick up from the Fort Clatsop
Visitor Center.
The park is open daily 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $10 per adult and free for
youth 15 years old and under.
