Clean up the beach in costume at Oswald West State Park An Oregon State Parks cleanup and cos- tume event will be held Saturday in Oswald West State Park. The event is led by Friends of Cape Falcon Marine Reserve, Surfrider Foundation’s Port- land chapter and Trailkeepers of Oregon. Two activities will take place between noon and 2 p.m. including trail maintenance (12 people maximum) and a beach cleanup (50 people maximum). Guests are asked to bring a bucket or bag, gloves, clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and a mask. Participants should arrive 15 to 20 minutes early to check in at the parking lot. The hosts encourage participants to show their holiday spirit and dress up. There will be a costume contest with prizes from Surfrider’s Portland chapter. Fort Clatsop hosts event about creatures of the night Saturday ASTORIA — Lewis and Clark National Historical Park will hold a “Bats, Spi- ders, Owls – Oh My!” event Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rangers will be stationed at the Fort Clatsop replica presenting information and telling stories about three creatures of the night: bats, spiders and owls. 12 // COASTWEEKEND.COM The hosts remind guests to dress for the weather. Night creature craft bags will be available to pick up from the Fort Clatsop Visitor Center.
