Arts event
to begin Friday
comes to
Cannon Beach
CANNON BEACH — Tolovana
Arts Colony will host outdoor program-
ming with its Art in the Park series,
beginning Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. at
NeCus’ Park.
During the events, local artists, musi-
cians and actors will perform, creating a
“street fair without the street.” Sunday’s
event will feature a barbecue in honor of
Father’s Day.
Bringing picnic baskets, blan-
kets, chairs, friends and neighbors is
recommended.
Bayside Singers
looking for
new members
OCEAN PARK — Leaders of Bay-
side Singers are looking for new
members to join its singing group.
The group rehearses at 1:40 p.m.
on Tuesdays at the Ocean Park
Lutheran Church, 24002 U St. Those
interested in joining should call
Andrea Patten, the group’s president,
at 360-642-2916 or 360-355-7863.
The ensemble is recruiting new-
comers to rehearse in the early part of
summer, then gear up for a December
concert. The ability to read music and
some experience singing in a group is
preferred.
Patten said membership dwindled
during the shutdown.
“We did lose a lot. We have several
who are elderly or have health issues
and a few moved away.”
Those who remained had virtual
gatherings online on Zoom, culminat-
ing in a Christmas singalong version
of “Oh Holy Night.”
The group has existed on the Long
Beach Peninsula since 2007. It is led
by Milton Williams, a former pro-
fessional musician who retired to
Ocean Park, and funded, in part, by a
grant from the Washington State Arts
Commission.
ASTORIA — The Astoria Scandinavian

present.
All Scandinavian lodges and societies

At noon on Saturday, the festival will

The residency was developed by the Astoria
Writer’s Guild and Astoria Visual Arts. The pro-

ipants stay at the Spotted Goat Cottage on the
Long Beach Peninsula, which features views of
Willapa Bay, Long Island and the Willapa Hills.
Williams will work on a project titled “Hot
