SCRATCHPAD Vote now for Readers’ Choice By ALYSSA EVANS COAST WEEKEND EDITOR Voting is open for the Readers’ Choice Awards. Voting for the contest will remain open until Feb. 28. Vote online at coastweek- end.com under the “Readers’ Choice” tab, or at eopubco.secondstreetapp.com/2020- Readers-Choice-Awards/. Results will be announced in the March 18 edition of Coast Weekend. And because of the unprecedented events impacting the North Coast over the last year, the results page may look a little different this year. Nominations for the annual contest closed Wednesday evening. During a three- week nomination period, residents from Raymond, Washington, down to Rocka- way Beach, and just about everywhere in between, participated. Nominations were limited to one per person this year, unlike previous years — the change helped make it so the results aren’t chosen based on many votes from a few people. The offi cial tallies have yet to be counted, but it’s safe to say that the con- test received hundreds of voters, who col- lectively shared thousands of nominations. It’s too soon to tell who, where and what will be awarded with this year’s honors. However, it’s clear that the North Coast’s spirit and support for local establishments remains strong. To all of those nominated this year, good luck. And to everyone who has sent in nominations, thank you for your participation. Many nominations went toward well-known establishments like Fort George Brewery and Nisa’s Thai Kitchen. Some newcomers have been added to the contest’s ballot though, including Cam- bium Gallery and other new businesses.
