Both offer food until about 8 p.m. Inside town, if you’re look- ing for breakfast, a few options are Yolk and Manzanita Coffee Co. For lunch or dinner, consider going to Left Coast Siesta, El Trio Loco, Neah-Kah-Nie Bistro or Marza- no’s Pizza Pie, which is located just a couple minutes from the beach. To fulfi ll your sweet tooth, visit Schwietert’s Cones & Candy, Sis- ter’s and Pete’s Coffee and Treats or Manzanita Sweets. If you’re wanting to get a drink, Dixie’s Vino, The Winery at Man- zanita, MacGregor’s Whiskey Bar and San Dune Pub all are solid choices. BY ALYSSA EVANS After you’ve fi nished dinner, head out for an evening stroll as the sun begins to slowly settle on the horizon. Once you’ve taken in the sights, head over to one of Manzanita’s gathering hubs for a tasty beverage. If you’re not staying near downtown, consider parking your car somewhere off Laneda Avenue. If your tem- porary home is nearby, you’ll be fi ne to walk. MacGregor’s Whiskey Bar, located off Laneda Avenue and Fourth Street, off ers whiskey, beer, wine and cocktails to enjoy. The bar is a popular choice for its drink off erings and chic atmosphere. MacGregor’s sometimes hosts special events like drink tastings and trivia nights. What to do Even if you only have a few hours, a hike in Oswald West State Park will be worth your while. The park is expansive, with several trails to stroll, plus places to fi sh, picnic and sightsee. Nehalem Bay State Park, just south of Manza- nita, is also worth a visit. Other recreational activities worth trying include golfi ng at the Manzanita Golf Course, cycling throughout downtown or trying your hand at surfi ng or boogie- boarding. Gear rentals are avail- able at the golf course and Bahama Mama’s. In downtown Manzanita, a few hours spent going to the town’s many art galleries will also be worthwhile. Types of art displayed in the galleries vary, as do the cre- ators themselves and the gallery experiences. Also downtown are a handful of shops to peruse and buy goods from. The stores range from chil- dren’s toys, to beachwear, pet accessories and a bookstore. A few spas are also available for visitors to enjoy. Depending on when you’re in town, the Manzanita Farmers Mar- ket may be happening. The mar- ket is one of the coast’s most pop- ular farmers’ markets and features many regional food producers and creators. If you can spare the time, it’s worth at least a stroll. If you’d rather sample varieties of wine, head down a block to The Winery at Manzanita. The winery features numerous spots for groups to sit and gather, both indoors and outdoors, either on the winery’s patio or rooftop. Drinks, bar snacks and desserts are available to purchase. See Oswald West State Park’s wonders, Page 14 Down the street a few blocks is the San Dune Pub, which is popular for its food, beer and live music. The pub has a lively atmosphere and a nice assortment of outdoor patio seating. If you can make it for a live music night, go. The pub is a popular spot for regional bands.
