Astoria Regatta Celebrating 125 years of community and tradition EVENT SCHEDULE WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7 Queen’s Farewell 5:30 p.m. McTavish Room at the Liberty Theatre 1203 Commercial St. This event is hosted in honor of outgoing Queen Catherine Tapales to celebrate her service this last year. Sponsored by Lum's Toyota FRIDAY, AUGUST 9 Astoria Regatta Signature Event Astoria Regatta Signature Event Seamen’s Memorial 3 p.m. Maritime Memorial Park, 10 Bay St. This longtime tradition is an opportunity to honor those who worked on the water. We recognize the U.S. Coast Guard, Navy, commercial fishermen, river and bar pilots as well as others involved in maritime industries. Astoria Regatta Signature Event Admiral’s Reception 6 p.m. Maritime Memorial Park, 10 Bay St. Tickets: $20 at the door, $10 with Regatta Pin Join the Regatta Association as we celebrate our Admiral, Willis Van Dusen, and the Admiral's Aide, Craig Hoppes. This annual party is always a good time, filled with locally catered appetizers and drinks. Following the coronation is a reception in honor of the new Queen. Sponsored by Van Dusen Beverages, Columbia Bank and Pacific Power THURSDAY, AUGUST 8 Astoria-Warrenton Kiwanis Junior Parade 7 p.m. Warrenton City Park, 300 SW Alder Ave. Families and children are invited to participate in the Kiwanis Junior Parade. Decorate bikes, scooters, wagons or any other non-motorized transportation and join the fun. Costumes, themed entries and general fun is highly encouraged! The best entry, as judged by the Regatta Court, will be included in the Grand Land Parade! Sponsored by the Warrenton Business Association and Walmart Movie in the Park 9 p.m. Warrenton City Park, 300 SW Alder Ave. Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket to enjoy “Toy Story,” featuring the voices of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, in the park SATURDAY, AUGUST 10 Astoria Regatta Signature Event Rose Planting 9 a.m. Flavel House, 441 8th St. The Rose Planting honors the Queen and Admiral with new additions to the Flavel House rose garden with our friends from the Royal Rosarians of Portland. Register on the day of the race at 11th and Exchange Street Grand Land Parade 12 p.m. Downtown Astoria The main event each year is the Grand Land Parade through downtown Astoria. The parade kicks off with a Coast Guard flyover at noon, followed by floats, bands and cool cars that make their way along the parade route. Watch for the Astoria Regatta Court, our Grand Marshals, the Admiral and the Admiral's Aide, as well as entries from many local businesses and groups. Presented by Englund Marine & Industrial Supply and Lum's Toyota Astoria Regatta Signature Event Highwater Boat Parade 4 p.m. Astoria Riverwalk The Highwater Boat Parade takes place on the Columbia River. This parade features a variety of boats including service groups, the commercial industry and sports crafts. Be sure to catch the Regatta Court on the Bar Pilot's boat leading the parade. You can view the parade from many restaurants on the water as well as docks along the riverfront.
