What do we have in common? How do we broach our differences?” The final part of the service is a short native drumming demonstra- tion to kick off efforts to assist in fundraising for the Annual Canoe Jour- ney of the Coastal Salish People. After the service, homemade fry bread with trimmings is being served. Seaside Rotary Foundation awards $33,500 in scholarships The Astorian SEASIDE — The Sea- side Rotary Foundation awarded a record-break- ing $33,500 to nine Seaside High School graduates this year. A&G Harvey Schol- arships of $2,000 each, renewable for four years, were awarded to Cori Biamont, Chase Januick and Haley Rollins. Shelbylee Rhodes received a $2,000 Deb Hauger Memorial Scholar- ship; and Majestik De Luz, Gretchen Hoekstre, Jenna Logan, Kendy Lin and Seth Trevino were each awarded a Rotary Scholarship of $1,500. “The Seaside Rotary Foundation is proud to offer college scholarships to Sea- side High School graduates every year,” Kevin Leahy, VOLUNTEER NOTES 4-H — Looking for 4-H leaders. Beginning July 11, the weekly 1 1/2-hour live webinar covers the basics of building a suc- cessful business. The cost is $79. The VIP program is funded by the Oregon Community Founda- tion, and is offered by the Ore- gon Technology Business Center. After the completion of the pro- gram, entrepreneurs are eligible to compete for investments of up to $10,000 from local Angel Inves- tors as a part of the Rural Oregon Startup Challenge. The Rural Oregon Startup Challenge is funded by the Oregon Community Foundation, the Ford Family Foundation, and local eco- nomic development organizations. The purpose is to bring seed invest- ment funds to rural entrepreneurs. The auxiliary is made up of local volunteers, many of whom have had loved ones who live at Clatsop Care. The Coast Guard and Tongue Point Job Corps Center will also be present at the car wash to help with the barbecue. Peninsula beach cleanup set for July 5 LONG BEACH, Wash. — The Grass Roots Garbage Gang is hold- ing a Community Beach Cleanup on July 5. To volunteer, go to any major beach approach on the Long Beach Peninsula at 9:30 a.m. After the cleanup, there is a soup feed at noon until the pots run dry at the Peninsula Senior Center, 21603 O Lane, Ocean Park.
