Labor Temple hosts first- ever Winter Solstice Party ASTORIA — Baby it’s cold out- side! Put on your finest black, white and silver attire and shake off those winter chills at the Labor Temple Bar’s first-ever Black and White Winter Solstice Party, 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21. This event is for people 21 and older. Cover is $5. The evening starts with a champagne reception from 8 to 8:30 p.m., followed by a variety show featuring comedy with Dave Bergquist, performances by drag artist Ginger Vitus, original songs by Miss Avery and Adam Yaws, burlesque with Trixie Kerfuffle and a special appearance by magician Seth Adam Howard. Heidie Johnson will be on site to capture guests in their winter finery in a special photo booth until 10 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Weaver — aka, Little Sue — has been a mainstay of the Port- land Americana and folk-rock scene for more than 25 years. Her quirky lyrical style, solid guitar playing and bee-stung voice have won over music lovers of every age and stripe. With six EPs of original songs and a seventh in the mak- ing, Little Sue has developed a deep and varied catalogue of Spend Afternoons With Skye NOON TO 6 PM work. She has opened for the likes of Bob Dylan, Neko Case, Roger McGuinn and Loudon Wainwright III.
