DECEMBER 13, 2018 // 5 IN THE COLUMBIA-PACIFIC REGION A ‘Festive Winter Holiday’ at the Liberty ASTORIA — The North Coast Symphonic Band and Liberty Presents collabo- rate on a holiday event at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at the Liberty Theatre, 1203 Commercial St. “Festive Winter Holiday” features holiday favorites for all ages. Doors open for general seating at 1:15 p.m. The North Coast Trombone Ensemble entertains from the balcony starting at 1:30 p.m. Manzanita’s Dave Beck- er, the conductor and mu- sical director, has planned an uplifting afternoon to remember. The North Coast Chorale directed by Denise Reed contributes by singing a set of carols about Mary. COURTESY NORTH COAST SYMPHONIC BAND Deac Guidi, vocal soloist. Astoria’s own opera star, Deac Guidi, sings classic Christmas songs accompa- nied by a full concert band. He will also narrate “The Night Before Christmas.” Cheri Walker of Seaview, Wash., will join the band as harpist and be featured on solo harp. Advance tickets are recommended and avail- able at the Liberty Theater Box Office, 2 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Satur- day, and two hours before the performance. Regular admission is $15. A musical Christmas program in Seaside SEASIDE — The Friends of the Seaside Library host a Czech Musical Christmas program with Mark and Helena Greathouse at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22. The free event takes place in Seaside Public Library’s Community Room. The Greathouses are a hus- band-wife duo of musician/ composer and singer/danc- er — Mark from Portland, Helena from Prague, Czech Republic. Some of their pieces are very familiar, others are older and may not have been performed in America. Helena will sing and dance in authentic folklore costumes from Eastern Europe.
