As a “local tourist,” the Hometown Tourism Days on Saturday, Nov. 10, and Sunday, Nov. 11 (Veterans Day), might be just the ticket for you. Local sites are working together to offer free or reduced admissions or other special deals on these days to encour- age their neighbors to come and see what they have to offer. Rain welcomes submis- sions from the public as well as CCC students and area high school students. All general submissions of art, fiction, poetry and non-fiction will be consid- ered. Instead of a theme for this year’s issue, the maga- zine’s 50th, Rain would like to collect anecdotes from those who have worked on the magazine and have been published in the magazine for a special section cele- brating the magazine’s long history on the North Coast. Submit no more than three items total, includ- ing poems, photographs, high-quality (at least 300 dpi) digital images of original artwork and prose less than 5,000 words in length. Make sure to label your work by its appropri- ate genre (poetry, fiction, nonfiction) in a cover letter or on the manuscript. The ability to print color is limited, so artists submit- ting color images should indicate if the image may appear in black and white. Include name, address, phone number, email, title, medium and a two-to-three- line biography with all entries. Email submissions are greatly preferred. RTF or Docx is the preferred format for written work. TIFF or JPG files (at least 300 dpi) are preferred for artwork. Email work to rainmaga- zine@clatsopcc.edu. Include your full name along with genres and titles of sub- missions in the subject line of your email message. Submissions without proper contact information will not be considered. Every year Rain Mag- azine is produced by the Writing 270: Literary Publications class, which in- cludes instruction in editing techniques and Adobe InDe- sign, the industry standard for book design.
