FosterClub FosterClub 620 S. Holladay #1 Seaside, OR 97138 Mission Statement: PROGRAM OVERVIEW We are dedicated to providing a peer support network for children and youth in foster care. We supply the tools, training, and forum to help young people secure a brighter future for themselves and improve the foster care system. Every two minutes, a child will enter foster care - a world filled with uncertainty, instability, and loneliness. A world they didn't choose. FosterClub’s approach is to engage and empower those who have the most at stake in transforming the foster care system: young people themselves. FosterClub creates and connects young people from foster care with unique tools and programs, and engages young people to transform life for themselves, their peers, and to ultimately improve the child welfare system. and neglected children in foster care. We are a source of support. We provide an online community at www.fosterclub.org where young people can learn more about the foster care system (we invite you to learn, too!) and connect with their peers. Our team provides training to over 3,000 foster youth each year, and publishes a selection of youth-friendly books that help young people navigate the foster care system. We are a force for change. We believe experience = expertise. The experiences young people have in foster care place them in a unique position to effect change within the system, inform and motivate their peers, build public awareness and create movement for improved care for abused and neglected children in foster care. We challenge the status quo and advocate for positive reform of the foster care system. We are FosterClub. FosterClub is the national network for young people in foster care, but we are proud to have our national headquarters right here in Seaside, Oregon! “FosterClub was an incredibly important resource for me… it often felt like the only place I could turn when I needed a listening ear.” — FosterClub youth WAYS TO GET INVOLVED FosterClub hosts a weekly group for young people in foster care in our community – and we could use your support! PeerUp! is a peer-driven youth development program, which is grounded in FosterClub’s evidence-based framework. This program provides young people with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the foster care system, understand how to create and maintain healthy relationships, opportunities to connect with peers who have similar lived experience, and skills for life success. FosterClub’s mission is to lead the efforts of young people in and from foster care to become connected, educated, inspired and represented so they can realize their personal potential and contribute to better outcomes for their peers. Our Motto: Built for youth, powered by youth, changing life in foster care.
