Clatsop Animal Assistance PROGRAM OVERVIEW • CAA volunteers work hard to improve the quality of life for the shelter animals, most directly by assisting the Animal Shelter, which has limited resources with which to deal with strays and unwanted pets within Clatsop County. Clatsop Animal Assistance • CAA pays for veterinary care as well as antibiotics and other critical medicines that aren’t covered in the shelter’s budget. CAA also pays a portion of the spay/neuter fees for animals adopted out of the shelter. 1315 SE 19th Street Warrenton, Oregon 97146 • CAA purchases cat litter and other supplies, and pays for grooming costs not covered by the shelter’s budget. Mission Statement: • CAA supports the shelter’s adoption program, sponsoring promotional ads and holding adoption events. • CAA maintains an adoption booth at Astoria’s Sunday Market every other week from May through part of September every year. • CAA is committed to reducing pet overpopulation: we support spay/neuter programs financially and work to educate the public on the importance of spaying or neutering their pets. • Additionally, many of our members volunteer at the shelter, walking dogs, socializing with the cats, and helping with administrative duties. FUNDRAISING EVENTS Our main fundraiser is our annual silent auction and bake sale, held the second Saturday of December each year. The event includes pet pictures with Santa, raffles and a silent auction with items donated by organizations and individuals, and a bake sale with donated baked goods and ingredients. Throughout the year we have smaller fundraisers such as raffles or online campaigns tied to veterinary care for individual animals, and fundraisers combined with adoption events. CORPORATE GIVING OPPORTUNITIES/SPONSORSHIPS We welcome all corporate giving, including cash and in-kind donations of items needed for the shelter. CAA receives terrific ongoing support from organizations and individuals. In fact, many of our fundraising events are conceived, planned, and sponsored by area businesses. Our silent auction and raffle items are all donated by businesses, other organizations, and individuals, and our bake sale is sponsored by a combination of businesses and individuals. DONATIONS We accept cash donations as well as in-kind donations of items needed for the shelter. You can donate by check or cash or online through PayPal from either our Website or our Facebook page. You can also set up recurring, automatic gifts through PayPal or your workplace. Many people make gifts in honor or memory of individuals or pets. Many companies will match an employee’s donations. It’s a good idea to check with your employer to see if a matching program is offered. VOLUNTEER CAA is always looking for new volunteers, both to work hands-on with the shelter animals and with our adoption outreach and with fundraising efforts. Our volunteers walk and bathe dogs, socialize with the cats, introduce the dogs and cats to potential adopters, transport animals to and from veterinary offices, and help with general administrative duties at the shelter. Clatsop Animal Assistance (CAA) is a 501(c) 3 all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping the Clatsop County Animal Shelter’s homeless pets. We support these animals by providing funds to pay for veterinary care, spay/neuter fees, medicines, cat litter, grooming, specialty-diet foods, and other supplies not covered by the shelter budget. We promote the shelter animals by providing advertising and promotional materials and by sponsoring adoption events. CAA helps turn hardship and suffering into happy endings, sending a message of compassion and caring for animals out into the community. Volunteers also participate in adoption outreach events by taking the shelter dogs and cats out into the community for special adoption events and one- on-one outings. We feature an adoptable dog or cat at our Sunday Market booth every other week during the summer. Most importantly, please consider adopting a dog or cat from the shelter and spay or neuter your pets. CONTACT INFORMATION P.O.
