BROWNSMEAD — The
Brownsmead Boys present
the third annual Brownsmead
Seafood and Crawfish Boil,
a fundraiser for the Browns-
mead Grange, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Aug. 4 at the Brownsmead
Grange Hall, 42280 Fish Lane.
This family-style seafood
meal features various dishes by
local chefs, coffee, lemonade,
corn and potatoes, fresh craw-
fish caught from local waters,
and no-host beer and wine.
Crawfish are served at 7 p.m.,
cooked two different ways:
sweet Brownsmead style, and
spicy Louisiana style.
There is no entry to the
event without a ticket, and
none will be sold at the door.
Tickets, which must be pur-
chased by Aug. 1, cost $25
per person or $8 for children
younger than 10, and are avail-
able online at bit.ly/Grange-
Boil or at Old Towne Framing
in Astoria and Two Old Goats

Daughters of Norway hold
national convention in Seaside

SEASIDE — The Daugh-
ters of Norway are holding
their 55th Biennial National
Convention in Seaside Thurs-
day through July 28, hosted by
the Astoria, Portland and Junc-
tion City lodges.
On Thursday, the pub-
lic is invited to hear keynote
speaker, award-winning author
Nancy Bartley, at 11 a.m. and
2:30 p.m. in the Necanicum
Room at the Seaside Conven-
tion Center. She is presenting
“Persistence, Courage: Surviv-

SEASIDE — Relay For Life of
Clatsop County, a fundraiser for the
American Cancer Society held July
7 and 8 at Seaside High School,
had over 200 participants walk-
ing, and some running, to support
friends and family who have been
touched by cancer. Over 60 survi-
vors attended, as well. As of the lat-
est count, almost $47,000 has been
raised.
“I would like to say thank you to
the event leadership team for putting
together an incredible and successful
event,” said Shiela Peralta, Relay For
Life West Region community devel-
opment manager. “Thank you to our
sponsors for supporting our mis-
sion to help fight for a world with-
out cancer, and to our teams, partic-
ipants and survivors. Without you,
this event would not have been possi-
ble, so I want to thank you for being
so passionate and believing in our
mission.”

gian interest in particular.
