Thompson. Wimberley will give an artist talk at 2 p.m., Thomp- son at 4 p.m. The opening receptions take place 5 to 8 p.m. For the first time in a lifelong career of black- and-white print making, Wemberley’s new series, “When the Stones Sing,” is in color. “Since 1969 I’ve photo- graphed in black and white. During those 49 years I exposed, developed and printed many thousands of large and medium format negatives,” Wemberley wrote. “But that season of my photography is drawing to a close.” The photos in his Light- Box exhibit are “respectfully TERRY K. THOMPSON PHOTO ‘Redwoods at Night’ JOHN WIMBERLEY PHOTO dedicated to all First Nation people, past and present, especially those who in an- cient times made rock art.” Thompson’s “Latent Harmony” is a retrospective collection of his lifetime of alternative process work. His background in photography includes an art education at the legendary School of Visual Arts in N.Y.C., working with artists as diverse as Diane Arbus, Andy Warhol, Vito Acconci, Gary Winogrand and Tad Yamashiro. His graduate work was with the San Fran- cisco Art Institute with top West Coast artists. He was one of the first photographic John Wimberley’s ‘Casa Diab- lo #1585’ artists to revive the Platinum print process in the 1960s. “I’ve used the photo- graphic medium to define and explore the truths of existence, devoid of the anthropocentric narrative.
