Robinett started reaching out to aspiring locals to open for CWDJ and decided they were worthy of a night of their own. “I’ve been asked a lot for events that start earlier in the night, so folks who go to bed early can still get out and enjoy a show,” Robinett said. “In response, I’m adding early shows to Thursdays featuring solo acts, singer-songwriters and one designated night a month for local comics.” Other weeks feature sing- er-songwriters Lucy Barna (Thursday, June 14) and Don Morrisroe (Thursday, June 28). TYLERBOEH.COM Comedian Tyler Boeh A night of stand-up at Labor Temple ASTORIA — Comedian Tyler Boeh headlines this month’s edition of “Cheap Whiskey and Dirty Jokes” at the Labor Temple Bar in Astoria, 8 p.m. Friday, June 15. The cover is $5. Host Gideon For-Muk- wai of Seaside and Jake Silberman are also fea- tured, along with surprise guests. Boeh started his stand- up career in his hometown of Portland, but after plac- ing in the finals of comedy competitions in Seattle, San Francisco, Boston and at the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas, Boeh made his way to Los Angeles. Within a year of his move to Hollywood, he had established himself at the top comedy clubs, complet- ed work on two television pilots, and Boeh’s debut comedy album, “Carpool Companion,” was chosen as LaughSpin Magazine’s album of 2012. In 2015, Boeh held his Comedian Jake Silberman own with Craig Fergus- son on his new show, “Celebrity Name Game,” was featured in numer- ous BuzzFeed videos and appeared in three episodes of “Laughs” on Fox. The year 2016 culminated with a college tour that took him to nearly 40 campuses across the country and a return visit for the third season of “Laughs.” Boeh’s second album, “Full Circle,” was selected in January as the SiruisXM 98 artist of the month. Feb- ruary brought the release of his Dry Bar comedy special “Wait for It.” Silberman is a Port- land-based stand-up who might best be described as a “hopeful misanthrope.” He was a finalist in the 2017 Portland’s Funni- est Person Contest, is a regular host and feature at Helium comedy club and has opened for Norm Macdonald, Kyle Kinane, Joey Diaz and many more. Jake has performed on the Cape Fear, Cream City and 10,000 Laughs comedy festivals. Cheap Whiskey and Dirty Jokes happens every third Friday at 8 p.m. at the Labor Temple. The shows contain adult content; they are for people 21 and older. For more information on upcoming shows, see labortempleastoria.com.
