The stage is set for Maddox Dance Studio recitals
ASTORIA — At 2 p.m.
Saturday, June 16, the
spotlight shines on the
first of three dance recitals
by the students of Maddox
Dance Studio at the Asto-
ria High School Audito-
rium.
This performance will
feature the stage debut of
3- and 4-year-old students,
followed by advanced
teens and young adults.
“The Four Swans” from
“Swan Lake,” music from
“Harry Potter,” Disney and
Broadway, will make for
an entertaining, diverse
dance program.
The second show, be-
ginning at 5:30 p.m. Satur-
day, will highlight preteen
through adult dancers in
contemporary, hip-hop,
ballet, tap and the acro-
batic arts, featuring “It’s
A Hard-Knock Life” from
“Annie,” boogie-woogie
from the swing era and
“Steam Heat” from “Paja-
ma Game.”
The show at 2 p.m.
Sunday, June 17, show-
cases the budding talents
of the creative movement
classes (ages 3 to 6) as
they present their progress
in ballet and tap. In addi-
tion, Little Ballet Theatre
dancers will appear in
classical variations from
“La Bayadere,” “Swan
Lake,” “Sleeping Beauty”
and “Raymonda.”
Tap, jazz, hip-hop,
acrobatic arts and musical
theatre numbers fill out the
Sunday show, along with
the introduction of the
graduating seniors — Maia
Mahoney of Astoria High
School, and Anita Barbic
of Seaside High School —
along with their parents.
Maddox Dance Studio
faculty will host a Pink
Lemonade Party at the
conclusion of each perfor-
mance in the High School
Commons for the students
and families. Students will
receive their participa-
tion awards, celebrating
the 68th year of Maddox
Dance Studio.
Little Ballet Theatre,
the nonprofit foundation,
will host the boutique and
flowers at each perfor-
mance.
Tickets are $10 general
admission, $5 for seniors
and students; children
12 and under get in free.
Tickets are available at the
door 30 minutes before
each performance.
The auditorium is
located at 1001 W. Marine
