2A THE DAILY ASTORIAN • MONDAY, JUNE 11, 2018 Astoria seniors celebrate graduation Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing By JACK HEFFERNAN The Daily Astorian An Astoria Rescue Mis- sion worker was allegedly stabbed Sunday after asking a man to leave the residence. The staffer — Wil- liam Eckstein, 56, of Asto- ria — appeared to have been stabbed in the stom- ach. Other people at the resi- dence allegedly kept Stephen George Foxon, 52, of Astoria, away as he attempted to con- tinue the stabbing. Astoria police responded to the 60 block of Bond Street just after 4 p.m. Police arrested Foxon at the scene without further incident. Eckstein was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital and remains in stable condi- tion, according to police. Foxon has been charged with attempted murder. Man arrested for allegedly pulling knife at Chart Room By JACK HEFFERNAN The Daily Astorian A man allegedly pulled a knife at the Chart Room bar in Astoria and attempted to rob his friend Sunday. Jay Robert Roosma, 22, of Astoria, allegedly pulled the knife on his friend and demanded money. The man sustained a cut to his thumb during the incident. Police responded to the bar shortly before 10 p.m. and arrested Roosma minutes later on Marine Drive. Roosma was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, pos- session of a weapon with intent to use, third-de- gree theft, menacing and coercion. Rear Adm. DUII • At 11:40 a.m. Saturday, Chris Eppler, 61, was arrested by Seaside police on 220 block of Roosevelt Drive and charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants. • At 10:23 p.m. Friday, Christopher Jacob Barker, 24, of Seaside, was arrested on the 320 block of Alameda Avenue and charged with DUII and reckless driving. Assault • At 4:24 p.m. Friday, Joseph Carroll, 51, and Jody Sofia, 48, — both of Seaside — were arrested. Carroll was charged with fourth-degree assault and Sofia was charged with interfering with a police officer and resisting arrest after the two were involved in a dispute.
