2A THE DAILY ASTORIAN • WEDNESDAY, MAY 30, 2018 ‘What are your summer plans?’ “To get my son off to college in the fall. I’ll try to enjoy my summer with him as much as I can.” “Just continuing to do what I do. I’m retired, and nothing changes. I’m having fun.“ “Coming back to Astoria. I don’t live here, but my daugh- ter lives here, and my granddaughter, and her partner, and their daughter.” Nelle Moffett, Astoria Celestine Durham, Astoria Lucy Weber, Boise, Idaho THE DAILY ASTORIAN // QUESTION OF THE WEEK Warrenton High School presents ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ this week The Daily Astorian WARRENTON — War- renton High School presents the classic musical “Bye Bye Birdie” at 7 p.m. tonight, Friday and Saturday at the school, 1700 S. Main Ave. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the cost is $8 per person at the door. Rock star Conrad Birdie has been drafted into the Army, and one last TV appearance is arranged to debut a new song and give the winner of a fan con- test, Ohio teenager Kim McA- fee, one last kiss on the “Ed Sul- livan Show.” The musical, which includes several tangled relation- ships, singing and dancing, is an evening of 1950s nostalgia. Warrenton High School Gabrielle Brinkman, talking on the phone at center, plays Kim McAfee in Warrenton High School’s production of ‘Bye Bye Birdie.’ She is surrounded by most of the cast and crew.
