3B THE DAILY ASTORIAN • FRIDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2017 Seaside Elks deliver Thanksgiving food boxes to local families Grants move sound system closer to Liberty Theatre The Daily Astorian The Liberty Theatre has been awarded two large grants to purchase and install a permanent sound system in the theater: $22,000 from the James F and Marion L Miller Foundation, and $15,000 from the Oregon Commu- nity Foundation. Additional grantors are needed to ful- fill the remaining need of $5,000. The Liberty Theatre cur- rently pays between $1,000 and $1,500 per event to rent an adequate sound system for Liberty-presented per- formances, which often add hours of setup/tear down time before and after each event. Outside promoters have to rent or bring their own sound system for their shows. Hav- ing a sound system designed specifically for the Liberty means the theater can control sound quality, train engineers in-house, and provide con- sistent, optimum experiences for its patrons. Engineers have been brought in to model and study the acoustics of the theater, and will be providing assis- tance in the purchase and installation of the system.
