North Coast Chorale PROGRAM OVERVIEW In 1990 a group of singers, dedicated to the choral arts and the idea that Clatsop County deserved the best, banded together with the sole purpose of sharing their passion for music with the community through choral concerts. During its 25+ years of existence, the North Coast Chorale (NCC) has had the opportunity of being led by seven, very talented and dedicated directors. Each year since its inception, the NCC has presented two unique performances--one in the spring and one during the winter-- devoted to various music genres such as jazz, traditional sacred and classical. Word of the caliber of the Chorale’s voices, its diverse repertoire and inspiring concerts grew. Invitations for additional performances have been extended locally from hospitals, churches, the Scandinavian Lucia Festival, the North Coast Symphonic Band and the renowned Astoria Music Festival, and from as far away as the Keller Auditorium in Portland, the Nehalem United Methodist Church, the Leavenworth Choral Festival in Washington, and most recently the Cascadia Concert Opera in Eugene. Although, obviously dedicated to the performing arts, North Coast Chorale strongly believes in the preservation of all the arts. As a partner in the Partners for the PAC organization since its inception, the Chorale helps to raise funds to preserve the Performing Arts Center as a significant, historic building used for facilitating arts in northwest Oregon and southwest Washington. Because of the chorale’s commitment to music education and its affiliation with Clatsop Community College students are given the opportunity to perform while earning college credits. In addition to college students, the Chorale also welcomes and encourages young singers with strong voices from grades 6 through 12. The Chorale is multi-generational and is always seeking new voices in all four parts. NORTH COAST CHORALE FUNDING CONCERT TICKET SALES: North Coast Chorale (NCC) gains much of its support by means of ticket sales for its two annual concerts, one of which has a holiday theme and is performed in December, the other, a spring concert, which is presented in May. In addition to these, throughout the year the Chorale often makes guest appearances with other groups.
