Guitarist Joel Marshal and fi ddler Gary Keiski, both original mem- bers of the band, are joined by Dave Quinton on upright bass and Brad Griswold on banjo, bringing songs spanning the northern hemi- sphere stretching between Poor Valley and El Paso. Maggie and the Katz formed fi ve years ago cre- ating a New Orleans-spiced gumbo of eclectic, bluesy, soulful, R&B tunes with a Lagniappe of originals. Joining Maggie is song- writer, vocalist and guitarist Richard Thomasian, who brings 40 years of experi- ence as a musician, along with bass player Dave Quin- ton, who has performed with many Northwest groups and currently plays bass with the Floating Glass Balls. Thistle and Rose is little bit of The Drifters and Peter, Paul & Mary, with a hint of Dylan and Joan Baez, and a pinch of Light- foot and Judy Collins, plus a dab of Garcia, spiced up with some hot-lick Bobcat blues and some original songs that are honest and thought-provoking. Two guitars and four voices in harmony solidly ground the band and support the partic- ipation of the audience as they play songs from back in the day and invite you to join along.
