From humble beginnings of just 600 VHS videotapes, the current library has grown to over 50,000 years movies and video games. In the 80’s, video stores were plentiful. There were about ten video stores in the Astoria-Warrenton area when owner Neal Cummings opened his store in the old Taco Terrific building across from McDonald’s. Then, in the 90’s, Blockbuster and Hollywood corporate chains began taking over the video landscape, and independent video stores were put out of business all around the country. Only a handful of independently-owned video stores survived the onslaught. Moving across the street into the 6000-square foot Fisher Brothers building, over 13 years ago, helped Video Horizons survive. Now in 2017, the landscape has changed once again. the corporate behemoths have toppled under their own weight. Netflix, Redbox and pay-per-view seem to be the people’s choices for their movies. But the strength of Video Horizons remains... affordability, selection and good customer service. Because Video Horizons provides so many copies of the hits, the previously-viewed selection of DVD’s has grown tremendously. The staff of Video Horizons would like to thank the good people of Clatsop County for their support all these years.
