This gives people op- portunities to prosper in business. Besides their financial investment in Clatsop County, however, the Ter Hars also invest their time in the community. They often can be seen supporting athletic teams and other student orga- nizations in the Seaside schools. Bud, Peter and Jeff have had associations with the Seaside Downtown Devel- opment Association and The Seaside Chamber of Commerce (all three had a turn as Chamber President). With the business Jean, Jeff & Pavi are able to work and contribute with the Assistance League Columbia Pacific to help clothe children in the county. Pavi is an active member in Assistance League. “It’s important not only for us to let our customers have a good shopping experience, but we’re also like a mini chamber of commerce,” Jeff said. “People need to know we have an aquarium, a two-mile Prom and where to get seafood.” We’ve appreciated all of our employees over the years, past and present, we couldn’t have done it without your dedicated contribution. 66 years Sweetly Celebrating 54 Years! On April 1, 1963 the doors to Bruce’s Candy Kitchen opened and Treva & Bruce Haskell entered the candy busi- ness. With our trademark pink & white exterior stripes, a few candy recipes and lots of love they set out on what would become a 5th generation owned and operated family busi- ness. Over the last 54 years our family has greatly enjoyed serving our homemade treats to generations of visitors to Cannon Beach. In 2011, we expanded our business to the Seaside Outlet Mall, so the communities of Cannon Beach and Seaside could both enjoy the wonderful treats we offer. We take great pride in producing the freshest and tasti- est salt water taffy, hand dipped chocolates, caramel corn, peanut brittle & more to our loyal customers and fi rst time visitors. We love that something as simple as a piece of taffy can become a life long memory for many of our customers, as generations of families enjoy our sweets. We are honored to be making sweet memories since 1963 and look forward to making many, many more! We make it fresh and we make it great! 54 years 256 N.
