The interior of the restaurant has a
huge 85 foot Ridge Pole in the main
room, the largest known in the U.S.,
it weighed 25 tons when cut and
has 5600 board feet of lumber in it.
This building is Gordon Smith’s
dream. In the early 70’s he
began with a few rusty pieces of
equipment, some of which were
donated, others on loan and most
of them purchased; which all led
to the actual building of the Log
Cabin.
Another spectacular feature of the
building are the hand-carved main
doors. They are cut from an old
growth Fir log. Each door is 4 1/2 in,
thick and weighs 500 pounds.
The two fi replaces are built with
approximately 50 tons of rock found
locally. The mantle of the fi replace
in the main dining room is solid
black walnut.
