The two-day Cosey Mobile Science and Engi- neering Camp will visit Astoria Middle School July 10 and 11 and is open to Astoria- and Warrenton-area students entering the sixth through ninth grade. A sub- sequent two-day camp will visit Seaside Heights Ele- mentary School July 12 and 13 for students in Seaside, Gearhart and Cannon Beach. The STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) camps, which run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, will provide lunch and the opportunity for stu- dents to design solar-pow- ered cars, create earthquake simulations and more. Ducky Derby nets more than $3,200 for Seaside Kids Inc. The Daily Astorian SEASIDE — The 10th annual Ducky Derby, spon- sored by Clatsop Commu- nity Bank and KCRX 102.3 FM, was held June 10 at Quatat Park. The event raised over $3,200 for Sea- side Kids Inc., and since 2009, has raised more than $35,000 for the local non- profit athletic program. Clatsop Commu- nity Bank awarded the grand prize of a $500 sav- ings account to Barb Has- san, the owner of this year’s winning duck. Other prizes were awarded to runners-up. Seaside Kids is a non- profit organization that raises money to provide free athletic programs for children in Seaside, Gear- hart and Cannon Beach. The group also provides schol- arships that enable children to attend special tourna- ments.
