The award, announced Feb. 1, was the result of the asso- ciation’s Digital Innovation Contest. More than 80 dif- ferent companies submitted hundreds of entries. EO Media Group is The Daily Astorian’s parent company. The faculty at the Uni- versity of Texas at Aus- tin/Engaging News Proj- ect judged the 14 categories. Cizec previously reported he had been assaulted by three to four people with a baseball bat. While Cizec’s hands and face were bloody, Asto- ria Police found the report to be unfounded. They then transported him to Colum- bia Memorial Hospital due to his high level of intoxi- cation before he eventually was arrested.
