The wedding On the big day, it was somewhat cloudy and there was a wind, but no rain. Things kicked off as a piano version of “Just the Way You Are” played as the twins’ father walked his daughters down the aisle, one on either side. Brenna remembered, “He’s a very big man and both of us are very close to him. It was an emotional but extremely happy few minutes walking next to him and being given away.” The brides wore the stunning ivory wedding dresses they’d picked at David’s Bridal in Portland — Brenna’s was floor-length while her sister opted for knee-length — different dresses by the same designer. The grooms were handsome in suits with brightly colored ties. Nick’s older brother, Forest, was his best man; and 9-year old son, Martin, was Dennis. The twins’ older sister, Sasha Archibald, did double duty as the maid of honor. Instead of a flower girl, a bunch of youngsters related to the brides and grooms walked as a group down the aisle, followed, of course, by the twins on their papa’s arm — the girls were clad in brightly colored, matching summer dresses and the boys in khakis, white shirts and suspenders. Once they rejoined their families at the front, Pastor Steven Andersen at Seaside’s North Coast Family Fellowship Church performed the ceremony as nearly 200 guests looked on. A local florist, Basketcase in Cannon Beach, had decorated the ballroom with a profusion of bright-colored flowers — mainly orange and fuchsia — and greenery. Nick and his brother had built an arch for the occasion, with help from Surfsand staff. In a touching moment, Dennis’ father (also Dennis) played the guitar and sang “If There Hadn’t Been You.” Reception Held in the Surfsand Resort’s ballroom, food at the reception was catered by the resort’s restaurant, The Wayfarer. The twins’ brother, Josh, is the eatery’s executive chef. Guests feasted on fresh arugula and berry salad, roasted salmon and chicken Caprese, topped off by seasonal vegetables and roasted fingerling potatoes. A reception highlight was the traditional father-daughter dance. Jenna danced with her dad for half of the song, "I Loved Her First" by Elliott Park. Then Brenna cut in to dance the second half. It was a moment to savor. Sister-in-law Chelsea Archibald is a pastry chef at The Stephanie Inn in Cannon Beach. She made two, small, multi- tiered cakes topped with fondant flowers in wedding colors — white cake with raspberry filling and a white layer with berry filling and a second chocolate layer. With all kids attending the wedding, there was a Seastar Gelato bar. “Margo was phenomenal …,” raves Brenna. “We had a number of out-of-state guests and wanted them to experience coastal flavors like Saltworks Caramel and Hood Strawberry.” It was a big hit. Congratulations and long life to the brides and grooms! RIVER & SEA WEDDINGS 2017 5
