3B THE DAILY ASTORIAN • FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, 2016 Charter donates to Community Action Team The Daily Astorian Community Action Team (CAT) recently received a $1,500 donation from Charter Communications to support the work the nonprofit agency does in Clatsop County. Charter is also doing what they can to sup- port those who are financially disadvantaged by introducing a new affordable high-speed broadband Internet service called Spectrum Internet Assist. The funds Charter donated will be used in the Lend A Hand program, that provides minor home repairs and nec- essary accessibility upgrades. These projects increase liva- bility and safety for seniors, disabled persons and veter- ans who do not have the finan- cial capacity to complete the repairs or upgrades on their own. The program serves both homeowners and renters. CAT also provides many other important services in Clatsop County: foreclosure prevention, weatherization, energy education, housing rehabilitation, help with first- time home buying, Head Start and Healthy Families. Warrenton TOPS donates to food bank Kiwanis and Job Corps class partner to sell holiday trees Submitted Photo The Astoria Kiwanis Club has been selling Christmas trees at Safeway for 11 years. The building construction technology class at Tongue Point Job Corps Center has as- sisted the club for the past six years by constructing and dismantling the tree stands in the Safeway parking lot. Pictured, the crew as they were taking down the stands on Dec. 13. Kiwanis appreciates the support and partnership with TPJCC, and the sup- port of the community.
