Al-Anon Family Groups in- Warrenton’s Osequera is Student of the Month The Daily Astorian WARRENTON — Nathan Osequera, a Warren- ton High School senior, has been selected for the War- renton Sunrise Rotary Club’s November Student of the Month award. The school staff selected him for the month’s theme, which was “Friendship.” The program honors accomplished local high school students who make a difference in their school and/or community. Accord- ing to his teachers, Osequera has an outstanding positive personality and has a smile on his face every day. He is a team player who plays all sports, but football is his favorite. Each student of the month receives a printed award along with gift certificates from area businesses who also want to acknowledge noteworthy student achieve- ments, including Warrenton Fultano’s Pizza, GB Jewel- ers, Warrenton Mini Mart, Sweet Scoops, Lucky Locks, Arnie’s Café, Starbucks and Zentangle teacher Sandi Kelly. OHV groups host cleanup HAMLET — Off High- way Vehicle (OHV) enthusi- asts, the Pacific Trail Riders and Clatsop County Sons of Beaches motor sport clubs, are teaming up Sunday for a cleanup in the Hamlet area, and volunteers are needed to drive and/or help load and unload trailers and trucks. The group meets at 9 a.m. at the Hamlet Quick Stop, 38012 U.S. Highway 26, then at 9:30 a.m. moves to the Hamlet Historical Schoolhouse, where work sites are being assigned. Both students received a Rotary Certificate and a gift certificate from The Rusty Cup. Vandergriff is the Associ- ated Student Body vice pres- ident and National Honor Society communication spe- cialist. She is involved in cross country, volleyball and track, and plans to attend the University of Oregon to study environmental studies and psychology. Geisler is the ASB pres- ident, and National Honor Society president. A four- year varsity participant in football and a three-year let- ter recipient in basketball, he is also involved in lead- ership, youth group, North Coast Youth Leadership America, 4-H and volunteer projects in the community. He plans to attend George Fox University to study civil engineering. Astoria Rotary selects Stu- dents of the Month during the school year from the junior and senior classes at Astoria High School and KHS.
