Bus drivers collect food The Daily Astorian Sunset Empire Transpor- tation District’s annual Hol- iday Canned Food Drive is under way, and continues through Dec. 24. All SETD bus drivers are accepting one can of food as bus fare for one ride on any SETD fixed bus routes within Clat- sop County. Regular fare is required on any connecting bus routes outside of Clat- sop County. North Coast Land Conservancy sells trees The Daily Astorian SEASIDE — Buy a Christ- mas tree from North Coast Land Conservancy in a special one-day sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, or until trees run out, in the barn at the NCLC Circle Creek Conservation Center. The center is at the end of Rippet Road, off the west side of U.S. Highway 101, .7 miles north of the junction with U.S. Highway 26. Hot cocoa will be served. The trees are from the Bone- yard Ridge Habitat Reserve, where a stand of young trees is being thinned. The trees, which will be cut the previous after- noon, range upward from about 5 feet in height. The NCLC is asking a donation of $100 for each tree, regardless of size. When the holidays are over, return the tree to the Circle Creek Conservation Center. It will be placed it in a waterway on Boneyard Ridge or adjacent Circle Creek Habitat Reserve, where it will provide refuge for juvenile coho salmon and con- tribute to the food chain serving coho and other wildlife. Helping in the time of need The Daily Astorian Easom Property Man- agement Inc. and Winder- mere Pacific Land Company are for the fifth year, team- ing up with the Wishing Tree and Food Basket Program to provide warmth and holi- day cheer to Clatsop County families in need this holiday season. Easom Property Manage- ment Inc. and Windermere Pacific Land Company, 175 14th St., No. 120 (in the 14th Street Pilot Station Building), are providing their office as drop-off site for this year’s drive to collect new and gen- tly used coats, hats, scarves, blankets and gloves. The office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and donations can be dropped off now through Dec. 16.
